The Mei Yu Cartoon Art Scholarship was created and funded by Mei Yu when she was 19 years old on her graduation day from Capilano College in Vancouver, Canada.

She is an award-winning young Canadian artist / author / self-publisher / art instructor and caricature artist.

This scholarship is intended to promote cartoon art to children and teens in Canada and the United States. It is the hope of its funder and the sponsors of The Mei Yu Cartoon Art Scholarship will encourage and motivate students to do well in schools and in art.

In June every year, one winner from the Children's Category (ages 8 - 12) and one winner from the Teen's Category (ages 13 - 17) will be awarded $500 each in Canadian funds.

The scholarship winners are selected based on their original cartoon artwork that the applicants have submitted through their teachers or art teachers at his/her current school. Creativity, originality, imagination, and variety should be emphasized. The winner's artwork(s) will be displayed on this site for public viewing.

The deadline for applying for this scholarship every year is April 22nd.
