| At
age 2, Mei Yu started drawing. She grew up and attended
schools in Burnaby, B.C. Canada.
At 17, Mei graduated from high school and won a
total of 16 local and national art awards / scholarships in that
year alone, including national 1st place for Teletoon's
Animation Scholarship Competition (entrance category) and
a Michael J. Fox Family Art Scholarship.
At
18, Mei wrote, illustrated and published her first art
instruction book, which was chosen as one of Canada's best books
for children and youth by the Canadian Children's Book Centre.

At
19, She graduated from the Animation Program at Capilano
College, B.C. Canada, one of the top animation programs in North
America. Upon graduation, Mei Yu was hired by Vancouver animation
studios to design cartoons for TV shows.
That
same year, upon graduation, Mei funded the Mei Yu Cartoon
Art Scholarship to encourage youth to do well in art and
in school. She also started to teach her popular Anime/Cartoon art
classes at Capilano College's Continuing Ed Program and in local
schools and local libraries.

20, she wrote, illustrated and published 3 more Anime/Cartoon
art instruction books for youth.
Her
diverse art and cartoon styles are much sought after for businesses,
commercial and book illustrations.
Mei's
amazing Caricatures are well-liked by all ages at birthdays, weddings,
corporate staff parties, events, and high school Dry Grads.
Her
Anime and cartoon art classes are very popular among schools. Mei's
excellent drawing skills and teaching style are loved by teachers
and students of all ages.
Mei
Yu wishes to create and write more books for kids and teens. She
loves to teach and share her art with people who loves cartoons
and who loves drawing. Through her books and projects, Mei wishes
to encourage and inspire more children and teens to do well in their
art, in school and to achieve more.
